Connect Me is currently recruiting volunteers!
Connect Me is currently recruiting volunteers from across North Down and Ards to help support their community by lending a listening ear and a helping hand to those who need support and companionship during these trying and lonely times.
Whether that’s connecting someone to a local service or offering friendly conversation to get someone through their day, our volunteers are crucial to our Connect Me service and we couldn’t do it without them.
In line with social distancing, our volunteer roles will be carried out over the phone and by video calls where possible. Our hope for Connect Me is to bring people together, even if it's in a remote capacity.
Not only is this is a chance to give back to your local community and help those in need, but it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills, improve your communication and complete training in safeguarding, active listening, signposting and suicide awareness.

If you are interested in volunteering with My uHub's Connect Me you have to:

Be over 18 years old

Be willing to complete an Access NI background check

Have no previous criminal convictions

Be able to access a phone and internet

We welcome volunteers with experience in mental health and community work, but don’t let this stop you from applying if you don’t have that background!
Support and full training will be provided.
All volunteers will receive suicide awareness and safeguarding training. While this will be taught, it will never be the role of a volunteer to handle this kind of situation. The training will be used to help volunteers recognise those in need of immediate help and how to refer them to the right support.
